Architectural Kaleidoscope

Joan Rosenstein’s photographic portfolio "Architectural Kaleidoscope" uses selected details of architect Frank O. Gehry’s freeform structures, The Experience Music Project building in Seattle, Washington and his unique Jay Pritzker Pavilion with its sinuous BP Bridge in Millennium Park in Chicago, Illinois. The resulting series of seventy abstract black and white photographs investigates interactions of architectural fragments.

The portfolio explores reflective fabricated steel surfaces, windows and mirrors manipulated in space by the artist. Views of the city’s skyline are framed by Gehry’s billowing stainless steel ribbons and crisscrossing steel pipes. Rosenstein digitally transforms her photographs of these compelling structures. Thus, she creates complex images of visually contradicting spaces to provide the viewer with a kaleidoscopic interpretation of the vital rhythms, patterns and forms of these architectural segments.

Black and white photographs are now available as 11"x14" or 16"x20" Epson UltraChrome™ Inkjet prints.
